  • Course description: AEC Daily: Bulletproof Glass and Bullet-Resistant Barriers

Incorporating bulletproof glass into any facility is a sizable investment; however, it is a small price to pay for the protection of human lives. This course illustrates how to maximize that investment by selecting and installing the appropriate system for the threat level and the functional needs of the client. Discussed are UL protection level ratings; types of bullet-resistant barrier systems and their components; planning, production, and installation of systems; security window film vs. bullet-resistant glass; and project security checklists.

Recall UL protection ratings, giving examples of the suitable level of protection for projects across a variety of industries.

Describe three types of bullet-resistant barrier systems and specify the proper system and components to address the safety of the building occupants and the functional needs of the client.

Summarize the three-phased approach to a successful bullet-resistant barrier system project, explaining how each phase contributes to a system that is safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing.

Compare security window film to bullet-resistant glass in terms of the different security needs each product meets.
