  • Course description: AEC Daily: State-Of-The-Art Fabric Air Dispersion Systems

Comfortable indoor environments with enhanced air quality improve the health and well-being of the building’s occupants. The course compares fabric air dispersion systems to traditional metal duct systems. It explores the evolution of fabric air dispersion systems and discusses essential design considerations, including: shape, layout options, system dimensions, suspension systems, fittings, air dispersion design, fabric options, orifices/vents, and air pressure design, and how they impact energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality.

Compare fabric air dispersion systems to traditional metal duct systems in terms of air distribution, condensation, cleanliness, and acoustic control, and their impact on occupant comfort.

Discuss how fabric air dispersion systems have evolved and how third generation system design contributes to energy efficiency, good indoor air quality (IAQ), and overall occupant comfort.

Summarize three different types of air dispersion design, their features, and suitable applications, and work with the manufacturer to create custom engineered fabric air dispersion systems based on project-specific design criteria.

Use four application examples to demonstrate how fabric air dispersion systems are easy to clean, and can be used to prevent condensation and drafts, and make air distribution even, comfortable, and energy saving.
