  • Course description: AEC Daily: Navigating the Commercial Roofing Supply Chain to Ensure a Successful, Efficient Roof Installation

    ONGOING - FREE - 1 HOUR

Specifiers, owners, and installers of commercial roofing systems face unprecedented obstacles in today’s business environment. Shortages and disruptions in the supply chain combined with a shrinking labor force have created uncertainty, inflation, and scheduling challenges for all projects. Despite these adverse conditions, opportunities exist to reevaluate and choose roofing materials and installation methods for successful project fulfillment within predictable time frames, allowing for the installation of a safe and energy-efficient roofing system on time.

    INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION

    Learning Objectives

Discuss how material shortages and the shrinking reserve of skilled labor can impede roof installations, affecting building quality and durability and, in turn, occupant wellness.

Describe efficient and ergonomic roofing technologies and design strategies to prevent roof failure and compare the relative merits of single-source versus “Frankenstein” roofing systems.

Navigate the challenges of the roofing supply chain and specify products with reasonable lead times so a roof installation takes place within a predictable time frame, ensuring a building envelope is not compromised.

Compare insulation and roofing materials in terms of their manufacture, sustainability, long-term performance, and compatibility with the environmental conditions at a jobsite.
