    Color palettes and design styles are cyclical and constantly moving. Change is inevitable. This course highlights significant events in US history and predominant movements in design and architecture to illustrate how color trends are threaded throughout history.

    Learning Objectives

    Recognize why a color trend effectively communicates a change in the world, reflecting the overarching social, economic, political, and cultural trends of a period in time.

    Explore the color trends of the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.

    Discuss why color trends emerge and shift as society changes, pulling inspiration from fashion, science and technology, art and design, entertainment and music, and popular movements.

    Describe the predominant architectural styles of the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries and discuss how a color trend can impact an architectural style and the revival of an architectural style.
