Ron Blank & Associates, Inc.

From our humble beginnings that were sketched out on Ron Blank's mother's kitchen table, a vision was conceptualized for connecting architects and building product manufacturers in a way that had not been done before. Since that moment, RBA has strategically evolved into a multi-platformed suite of services for building product manufacturers and design professionals that aim to connect, educate and energize the professional goals of those who engage them.

  • Course description: Ron Blank & Associates: The Intersection of HOA’s and Design in Outdoor Living

Designing within HOA-governed and multi-family residential environments presents a unique set of challenges that require technical knowledge, strategic communication, and a deep understanding of regulatory and structural constraints. In this course, we’ll share insights on how to effectively manage the intricacies of working with HOA boards, multiple homeowners, budget limitations, and varied design preferences. Attendees will explore the differences between commercial and residential code requirements, understand the approval and change order processes, and learn how to ensure durability and consistency in both new construction and renovation contexts. This course empowers design professionals to create compliant, cohesive, and high-quality living environments through smart planning, clear documentation, and collaborative decision-making.

Identify key differences in code and material requirements for commercial and residential projects, and how they impact occupant protection and code-compliant design in multi-family and HOA settings.

Evaluate material choices for new and renovated multi-family buildings to ensure durability, performance, and long-term protection of building systems and users.

Explain how clear documentation supports quality control, reduces risk, and helps prevent construction issues that affect building safety and function.

Discuss strategies for presenting designs to HOA boards and coordinating homeowner input to support cohesive, disruption-free project outcomes.
