  • Course description: AEC Daily: Entrance Flooring Systems: Design with the Elements in Mind

    The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the use of entrance floor systems in commercial buildings in order to promote a safe and clean environment. The course explains the codes, regulations, and guidelines specifically related to entrance flooring systems for high-traffic entrances in healthcare, education, transportation, corporate, and other commercial settings.

    Explain the importance of entrance flooring systems.

    Discuss the environmental and aesthetic considerations for entrance flooring systems and the issues related to building maintenance costs, slip/fall accidents, and rolling loads.

    List the problems that can occur in a commercial building if the wrong entrance flooring is selected or if one is not selected at all.

    Discuss the solutions for minimizing maintenance costs, slip/fall accidents, excessive rolling loads, and environmental and aesthetic issues by choosing the right entrance flooring system.
