Course Description: CEU Events: Understanding Ceramic, Porcelain Tile, and Sintered Slabs
Tile selection extends far beyond aesthetics and this course gives professionals a working understanding of the technical standards that determine real-world performance. Participants will explore coefficient of friction testing, breaking strength standards, water absorption classifications, and accessibility requirements for floor and ground surfaces. Installation quality factors like lippage and warpage complete the technical picture, and the course concludes with an in-depth look at sintered slabs, examining how these large format materials are manufactured and where they are being specified across floors, walls, and countertops.
Compare the test methods set by industry guidelines to evaluate tile slip resistance.
Specify tile based on performance requirements to support occupant protection and durability.
Identify how slip resistance and ADA requirements affect tile specification for interior applications.
Evaluate factors, such as break strength, water absorption, and PEI rating, when specifying tile for different applications.
