Course Description: CEU Events: Complete Enclosure Performance: Air Tightness Testing, Requirements, and Options
This course examines the principles of designing and specifying a continuous air barrier across the building enclosure, including material types, assemblies, and how uncontrolled air leakage impacts energy, moisture, and indoor air quality. Participants will review whole-building airtightness testing standards, applicable energy code requirements, and BECx processes to ensure completed assemblies meet project requirements.
Identify and recognize the challenges of creating a monolithic building enclosure.
Describe Air Barriers for specifying: Types, options, materials, assemblies, materials and whole building testing.
Comprehend air barrier enclosure performances required for energy code compliance.
Apply principles for projects to specify, detail, and coordinate installation to achieve air barrier performance.
