Course Description: CEU Events: Beyond Aesthetics: Designing floor layouts for visual performance
Floor layout decisions extend past material selection, and they directly shape the visual performance of commercial spaces over time. This course explores how strategic use of color, contrast, pattern, texture, and gloss work together as an integrated system to reduce visual noise, guide intuitive movement, and manage how wear is perceived in high-demand zones. Through a review of contextual factors and practical layout strategies, participants will gain a framework for making informed flooring decisions that support visual clarity, reinforce spatial flow, and sustain long-term appearance in demanding commercial environments.
Understand how floor layout creates visual rhythm—using pattern, scale, direction, and contrast to guide movement and orientation.
Identify high-demand areas where floor layout plays a critical role in perceived wear, visual clarity, and movement.
Analyze how color, contrast, pattern scale, texture, and layout composition affect visual perception and spatial legibility.
Apply floor layout strategies that enhance visual performance by reducing visual noise, reinforcing intuitive movement, and improving long-term appearance.
