Course Description: CEU Events: RISE on the Road - High Performance Waterproof Roofing and Wall Systems Series
The four hour series presents PMMA Chemistry and Flashing and Roofing, PVC Membranes and System Design, Reusable Insulation Systems for Roofing and Waterproofing Applications, and Designing Walls for Control, exploring the materials, chemistry, and design strategies behind high-performance roofing and waterproofing systems. Through technical instruction, case-based examples, and demonstrations, participants gain a deeper understanding of how integrated system design supports installation and long-term performance.
Identify the basic principles of PMMA chemistry and curing, and evaluate the performance characteristics of liquid-applied systems versus traditional sheet materials.
Understand the key properties and application methods of common liquid-applied systems, and recognize system components to make informed design decisions based on specific project requirements.
Discuss the functionality the cap, scrim, and core provide to the roof membrane, and review the basic chemistry involved in the PVC KEE blend.
Recognize the importance of plasticizers as it relates to the long term performance of a PVC KEE membrane.
Understand the various types and ASTM specifications of PVC and PVC KEE membranes to determine how to select the appropriate membrane based on specific project requirements.
Examine how aggregate and cellular lightweight insulating concrete systems achieve their lightweight properties, and evaluate the benefits and limitations of each system.
Explore asphaltic pellet attachment systems, their application in LWIC insulation, and how design choices influence LWIC system selection.
Manage moisture, air, vapor, and thermal continuity while navigating evolving building and energy codes and their impact on building enclosure system interfaces.
Apply specific examples of air barrier systems to current and future project designs.
Outline design and specification requirements to establish performance requirements for wall systems.
