Course Description: CEU Events: Wind Design
This presentation will provide information about the concepts of wind design, building code requirements for determining the loads acting on a building, test methods used to determine wind resistance of roof assemblies, and where to located Approval Listings for tested roof assemblies (FM, UL, DORA), as well as edge metal used for roof systems. This presentation will also demonstrate a code-approved wind-uplift resistance test method.
Understand the basic concepts of wind design by differentiating loads acting on a building and wind resistance of roofing assemblies and systems.
Recognize the code-approved wind-resistance test methods that system manufacturers use to determine capacity.
Identify where roof designers and installers can locate Approval Listings of wind-resistance rated roof systems.
Demonstrate a wind uplift resistance test of a mechanically attached roof and an adhered membrane roof system.
