Course Description: Marvin Canada: Improving Health & Safety Thru Smart Home Enabled Windows and Doors
This course will explore recent trends in smart home technology for residential construction with a specific focus on windows and doors. We will look at the wide range of options available to architects designing a smart home, and how these choices can impact the health, safety,well-being, and peace of mind of the occupants. Lastly, we will discuss how architects can incorporate home automation into their design process and how collaboration with smart home integrators can be beneficial to the entire project team.
1. Review the history and current state of hoe automation, looking at the advancements that laid the necessary foundation for our modern smart home systems.
2. Apply aspects of biophilic design for bringing more air, light, and views into residential design through smart home technology.
3. Describe how home automation in windows, doors and skylights can support health, safety, and wellness needs.
4. Explain how smart home integrators can collaborate with architects to integrate home automation into their designs.
