Course description: CEU Events: From Future Vision to Material Reality Vol. 2: How Predictions for Color, Material and Finish have come to Life
This second installment in the Future Vision series examines how design predictions translate into today’s materials, colors, and finishes. Using the biennial forecasting tool, we revisit the three trend stories from Future Vision Vol. 3—New Order, Safe Haven, and Fresh Start—and validate which elements are shaping current CMF design.
Understand trend predicting terminology such as forecasting, tracking and validation. Recognize the Pyramid of Influence and S-Curve and how they are used in mapping trends.
Review each of the trend stories from Future Vision Volume 3 – New Order, Safe Haven and Fresh Start; and explore updated CMF mood boards.
Learn about real life interior spaces as evidence of these appearing CMF trends.
Dive into predicted colors and discuss where palettes need to be tweaked and discover how colors are being utilized in color combinations.
Review predicted materials by trend story and discuss where materials have been validated or are still evolving. Using the CMF S-Curve, understand where materials are progressing through different consumer groups.
