Course description: CEU Events: Designing for Exteriors
This course explores the performance and applications of translucent materials, including resins and glass, to help architects and designers create safe, durable, and resilient designs. Participants will learn how resins address the limitations of traditional materials, offer unique aesthetic and functional benefits, and adapt to environmental demands. The program covers key performance criteria such as UV and impact resistance, durability, and maintenance, with real-world test demonstrations to illustrate their versatility.
Showcase a number of resin options that can be employed to address the performance and aesthetic aspects of a myriad of exterior applications and address the health and safety characteristics of those resins.
Architects and designers will have a comprehensive understanding of the traditional material (glass, wood, metal, etc.) limitations that resins can help overcome, molecular and mechanical recycling and the importance of durability in building materials.
Teach how resins provide unique material options that can be utilized for exterior projects.
Review thermoplastic resin performance criteria, including UV resistance (UV index and ozone layer), impact resistance, abrasion resistance, and maintenance. The program features live test-performance demonstrations.
