  • Course Description: AEC Daily: Enhancing Aesthetics and Safety with Rooftop and Ground Screening

    ONGOING - FREE - 1 HOUR

Rooftop HVAC equipment, waste receptacles, and other necessary but unsightly equipment are common in today’s commercial industries. Rooftop and ground screening can provide a solution for meeting code requirements while improving building aesthetics. In addition, screens may improve a property’s safety and security and establish privacy boundaries. This course offers an in-depth discussion of rooftop and ground screening, the various ways to screen, and considerations when selecting a screen. Different installation techniques and comparative characteristics of traditional screening methods versus unit-attached and modular screening methods are also discussed.

    • Explain how screening can enhance aesthetics and create a visually pleasing environment that can positively impact the well-being of the surrounding community and occupants.
    • Identify how municipal codes and other design and installation considerations can affect decisions on screening.
    • Describe the characteristics, installation methods, benefits, and finishes of the different types of rooftop and ground screening and their impact on visual appeal and public safety by preventing unauthorized access.
    • Evaluate the different applications and product offerings for innovative turnkey screening solutions that match the project design while accomplishing safety objectives.
