Course Description: AEC Daily: Maximizing Envelope Performance with IMP-Integrated Components
The facade is one of the most significant contributors to the energy consumption and comfort parameters of any building. This course explores high-performance building envelopes and the use of advanced insulated metal panel systems featuring integrated daylighting and ventilation components that combine to provide weathertightness and maximum thermal performance.
Define a high-performance building envelope and discuss the most common barriers to its achievement.
Discuss how IMPs serve as essential barriers to resist water, heat, air, and vapor to maximize thermal efficiency, comfort, and safety.
State the benefits of advanced IMPs in terms of green features, design flexibility, and the simplification of installation.
Explain how key envelope components including windows, daylighting panels, sunshades, louvers, and through-tube bypass framing are engineered to integrate with advanced IMP systems to provide quality daylighting, views to the exterior, and proper ventilation of the building.
