Course Description: AEC Daily: What Is Quartz? The Solution for Commercial and Residential Surfaces

Quartz surfacing is a man-made material consisting of up to 93% natural quartz crystal. In this course, you will discover the other components behind the beauty, durability, and flexibility of this surfacing material. You will see the composition, production, and quality assurance processes that go into making the material and the resultant attributes and capabilities, as well as the installation basics of quartz surfacing materials.

Explain the attributes of quartz as a mineral and quartz surfacing as a manufactured product, including the testing to look for to ensure durable, long-lasting use.
Identify the raw material components of quartz and the role each plays in the performance of the finished product, and explain the manufacturing process.
Identify installation basics and fabrication techniques that lead to accuracy and efficiency.
List the certifications that ensure quartz surfacing meets health, safety, sustainability, and performance requirements.
Recall the range of quartz surfacing applications.
