  • Course Description: AEC Daily: Electric Vehicle Charging: Basics and Beyond

    The growth of EV (electric vehicle) adoption is accelerating, and the behavior of EV drivers is increasing the demand for electric vehicle charging stations. This education course explains the different types of charging available and their suitable applications, and discusses the planning and installation considerations for electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE).

    Explain the relationship between EV adoption, fuel consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions.

    Recall fueling models, and EV charge and charge speed types.

    Describe how state and local codes and regulations, such as CALGreen, and the LEED® green building rating system are encouraging the development of EV charging station infrastructure as part of broader sustainability goals.

    Discuss various site assessment and selection considerations and how they impact both the safety and cost of EVSE installations.

    Specify stations that meet ADA requirements and are safe and secure for drivers and pedestrian traffic.
