    The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sets the minimum requirements for newly designed and constructed or renovated state and local government facilities, public accommodations, and commercial facilities to be readily accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities. Many projects must also follow the provisions of the 2017 version of ICC A117.1, Standard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities. This course identifies the benefits of accessibility standards and the prescriptive requirements for accessible restrooms set by the ADA and ICC A117.1.

    Identify how accessibility standards accommodate a diverse set of users and the general prescriptive requirements for accessible restroom design mandated by the ADA.

    Recall the changes in the 2017 version of the ICC A117.1 accessibility standards for existing and new buildings.

    Describe requirements for accessible lavatories and restroom accessories that benefit a wide range of users.

    State requirements for accessible toilet compartments of varying sizes and the accessories needed to complete their specification.

    Discuss requirements for accessible bathing facilities designed for the comfort and safety of disabled individuals.
