Course Description: AEC Daily: Metal Stair Specification Criteria
ONGOING - 1 HR - FREE
There are many technical publications referenced in today’s steel-framed stair specifications. It can be challenging to determine fit and finish between different stair and rail assemblies based on stair classification and type alone. This course touches on some of the most notable governing trade groups in the industry and their technical publications. It provides the learner with guidance on how to best utilize these resources in specifying optimal stair finish and fit while achieving design objectives.

Learning Objectives:
Recall proper stair classification and type per the Metal Stairs Manual, AMP 510, to identify stair construction and materials suitable for the application.
Use the Pipe Railing Systems Manual, AMP 521, to identify proper railing system joint construction types.
Apply AMPP (SSPC) standards to identify proper metal surface preparation for the application.
Use AISC guidelines for joinery and finish for architecturally exposed structural steel (AESS) in stairs.
