Developments in filtration technology make it possible to conserve energy, improve indoor air quality (IAQ), and dramatically reduce ongoing utility and operating costs. This course reviews advanced engineered solutions for energy savings and air quality for commercial, institutional, medical, pharmaceutical, and other critical applications.

    Learning Objectives

    Discuss the importance of filtration in cleaning the air of dangerous ultrafine particles, VOCs, and odors and decreasing the risk of spreading infectious diseases.

    Explain the methods of mitigating risks associated with the transmission of airborne aerosols within an HVAC system.

    Contrast the features of dynamic air cleaning systems that use polarized media technology with the features of traditional filtration methods in terms of performance, maintenance, and life cycle costs.

    State how specifying a dynamic air cleaning system can contribute toward earning points in the LEED® green building program.
