This course examines the features and benefits of standing seam metal roofing and explains the factors to consider when selecting a project-specific metal roofing system.

    Learning Objectives

    Assess the sustainability and long-term durability of metal roofing and explain the importance of material selection in metal roofing applications.

    Evaluate metal coating types and their properties and discuss how to achieve the desired aesthetic and the necessary performance over time.

    Review the types of testing performed on metal roofing products, including their coatings, and recall the high-performance features of metal roofing related to weather and durability as established by industry standards.

    Discuss the issues that can affect the fabrication of metal panels and the design and construction of new and retrofit standing seam metal roofs.

    Review architectural details and structural options for metal roofing and summarize what information needs to be put in a specification to attain the required outcome.
