Course Description: AEC Daily: Critical Functions of Masonry Through-Wall Flashing Systems

Masonry through-wall flashing plays an important role in cavity wall construction by directing water to designated drainage paths. This course explains how flashing interfaces with masonry veneer, air and vapor control layers, insulation, and weep systems to promote effective drainage and protect wall components from moisture exposure. It reviews common flashing materials, accessory components, and required flashing locations, then connects these elements to detailing and specification decisions that affect wall performance over time.
