Homeowners are looking for alternatives to traditional cladding materials that are affordable and long lasting and require little or no upkeep. Advances in technology and manufacturing techniques mean cellular PVC cladding products can meet all these requirements without sacrificing aesthetics. This course reviews the benefits of cellular PVC as a cladding material and discusses how cellular PVC rebutted and rejointed (R&R) prefinished shingles can provide the look and feel of wood shingles with an extended level of durability and low maintenance.

Compare the physical and performance properties of different cladding materials and discuss how each can impact both the builder and homeowner.

Evaluate the performance properties of cellular PVC in terms of durability, moisture resistance, low maintenance, and long life cycle and discuss how cellular PVC cladding products protect a home.

Discuss why it is important to consider light reflectance value (LRV) when painting cellular PVC and evaluate coatings for cellular PVC in terms of their weathering resistance and energy savings potential.

Discuss the sustainable features and benefits in both the manufacturing process and life cycle of cellular PVC when specified for cladding and trim applications,.
