Course Description: AEC Daily: Access Doors and Panels: Contemporary Solutions for Functionality and Aesthetics
This course examines the role of access doors and panels in building design. It covers their functions, material options, and performance requirements. Topics include resistance to fire, sound, and moisture, as well as durability, code compliance, and integration with surrounding finishes. The course also presents best practices for specifying and installing access components that support safety, accessibility, and design continuity across a range of project types.
Evaluate material and design options for access components based on durability, fire resistance, acoustic performance, and environmental conditions to enhance occupant safety and system performance.
Apply relevant building codes and industry standards to specify access solutions that meet defined health, safety, and welfare requirements.
Coordinate specifications with multiple trades to align access components with adjacent systems and construction sequences.
Recognize effective strategies for selecting and placing access doors and panels that contribute to safe, functional, and visually integrated environments.
