  • Course Description: AEC Daily: Safe & Tested Chemistry to Combat Wildfires, Environmental Harm, & the Insurance Crisis

The effects of climate change are causing the threat of extreme wildfires to grow across the US, even in areas not considered to be at risk 20 years ago. Designing fire-resistant properties that are prepared and protected year-round is an essential factor in building wildfire-resilient communities. This course reviews the health and environmental harms of wildfires and their role in the growing insurance crisis and then addresses how an eco-friendly fire inhibitor can be part of a multilayered defense strategy. Also discussed are this nontoxic product’s fire and safety testing and certifications and how it can be deployed in a variety of methods to serve as a proactive defense against embers, the leading cause of structure ignitions in wildfire events.

Describe the climate change factors behind the increased frequency, severity, extent, and seasonal range of wildfires and the impacts on the environment, homeowners, and communities.

Explore wildfire defense strategies that can be adopted by homeowners, architects, designers, and building officials to increase the resilience of communities, ensure public health and safety, lower insurance rates, and maintain property values.

Discuss the formulation, benefits, and application methods of a nontoxic, eco-friendly fire inhibitor that enhances fire resistance in combustible materials without compromising sustainability.

Review the fire performance and human and environmental health testing and certifications for an eco-friendly fire inhibitor that contributes to resilience in the face of increasing wildfire threats to the built environment.
