Course Description: AEC Daily: Designing with Perforated Metal

The architectural uses for perforated metal span a wide variety of interior and exterior applications for residential, industrial, and commercial projects. Reviewed in this course are the applications and the specification considerations for standard and custom perforated metal, along with a discussion on how it is used to sculpt light, control sound, and compose views.

Explain how perforated metal is used as a valuable tool for composing light and views to maximize productivity.
State how perforated metal is used to manage HVAC flow to improve air quality and enhance thermal comfort.
Recall how perforated metal mitigates acoustic issues that cause noise and distraction and diminish creative thinking.
Summarize the manufacturing process and available finishes of perforated metal.
Define the factors that influence perforating costs and specification considerations.
