Course Description: AEC Daily: Light-Manipulating Glass: Innovative & Sustainable Architectural Solutions
Light-manipulating glass products transport, redirect, refract, and reflect light to create architectural spaces that engage occupants with the unexpected interplay of light and shadow. This course explores these durable, functional products and their many options for customization. Also reviewed is how glass panels may apply to several credits and features in the LEED® v4.1 Building Design and Construction and Interior Design and Construction rating systems and the WELL Building Standard™ version 2.
Describe the types, design options, customization possibilities, and applications of light-manipulating glass products in a wide range of unique projects.
Discuss the sustainability benefits of light-manipulating glass products that are made of recycled content, minimize construction waste, and are low-emitting products meeting the standards of LEED v4.1 and WELL v2.
Explain how light-manipulating glass screens and walls can be utilized to separate and define areas while allowing projects to meet LEED v4.1 and WELL v2 daylighting requirements and supporting the acoustic comfort goals of WELL v2.
Describe the abilities of light-manipulating glass products to enhance occupant well-being by bringing natural and biophilic elements to indoor spaces as rewarded by LEED v4.1 and WELL v2.
