The popularity of thin gauged porcelain tile has soared because of its large slab size, beauty, durability, sustainability, and versatility. This course explores their many uses, their economic and environmental benefits, and proper installation techniques.

Describe the safe handling and installation of thin gauged porcelain tile panels/slabs, which are significantly larger and heavier than regular-sized tiles.

Describe how thin gauged porcelain tile panels/slabs contribute to sustainable construction via reduction of demolition waste, virgin resource consumption, and carbon emissions during manufacturing, shipping, and installation.

Identify how thin gauged porcelain tile panels/slabs can be installed to improve sound abatement to meet code requirements for STC ratings.

Explain how installing with adhesives instead of mortar eliminates airborne particulates, water consumption, and electricity consumption to protect occupant and worker health and reduce water and energy use.
