Course Description: AEC Daily: Security Pass-Through Systems: Types, Options, & Specifications
Pass-through windows are a common and convenient method of conducting transactions in a variety of settings, some of which may present concerns for the security of the employees behind the windows. This course addresses the protection options available for security pass-through windows. Proper specification of pass-through windows as well as convenience and performance features are also discussed.
Describe the bullet resistance levels and testing, and the typical applications where employees may require extra protection.
Evaluate where and when to specify security pass-through windows and write the correct specifications to support the design criteria and balance the needs for employee protection and customer convenience.
Compare the advantages and disadvantages of different glazing types used for security pass-through windows.
Discuss how insulated, fire-rated, hurricane-rated, blast-resistant, antitheft, and tinted glass contribute to additional security and occupant comfort.
List additional convenience and performance options available for security pass-through windows that improve customer–employee transactions while maintaining security.
