Course Description: AEC Daily: Adapting Water Management to Evolving Conditions: Part 1
Growing and concentrating populations, shifting weather patterns, increasing frequency and ferocity of storm events, disappearing water supplies, and rising costs have made providing potable water and managing other water-related issues increasingly difficult for many communities. This course explores their many water issues and how they adapt their management practices to address constantly evolving water conditions.
Recall basic facts about freshwater availability and accessibility, movement, and usage that are relevant to water management planning.
Analyze current global and North American water issues and usage patterns to develop long-term adaptive management strategies.
Use the examples from Toronto, the Great Lakes, and the Colorado River Basin to illustrate that successful water management must occur at all scales and across jurisdictions.
Describe four practices and three tools that can be used to address water management at the building and site levels.
