  • Course Description: RDH Building Science Inc. - Deep Dive into Rainscreens Session 7: The First Line of Defense

    April 25, 2024 - 2:00 PM (AST) - April 25, 2024 - 3:00 PM (AST)

Deep Dive into Rainscreens Session 7 discusses the first and outermost water control layer of a rainscreen wall assembly: the cladding system. In this session, you will explore the role of cladding as the primary water-shedding element of a wall assembly and the cladding system’s impact on long-term assembly performance. You will learn about different types of cladding, how various cladding properties affect water penetration into the wall assembly, and how the cladding system manages the loads acting on the assembly.

1.Identify different types of cladding used in rainscreen wall assemblies.

2.Explain why the cladding layer is the primary water-shedding element of a wall assembly.

3.Describe how cladding manages the loads acting on a wall assembly.

4.Explain why different claddings need different levels of ventilation to perform.
