Course Description: AEC Daily: Optimizing Energy Efficiency and Thermal Comfort with Radiant Heating and Cooling
Energy conservation and occupant well-being, comfort, and productivity are issues of increasing concern in building design. This course illustrates how radiant heating and cooling systems address these issues positively and efficiently. It encompasses the various types of systems available and how they can contribute to credit requirements in the LEED® v4.1 Building Design and Construction rating system and the WELL Building Standard™ version 2. System workings, design, aesthetic considerations, advantages, testing and measuring protocols, and installation procedures are reviewed, and the course concludes with several installation examples.
Discuss how radiant heating and cooling systems can contribute significantly to meeting the energy reduction requirements of LEED v4.1.
Describe the integration of radiant and dedicated outdoor air systems to help provide indoor air quality that meets the requirements of both LEED v4.1 and WELL v2.
Explain how to integrate healthy, efficient, and comfortable radiant systems into any design aesthetic or space.
Plan the use of radiant heating and cooling systems to create building occupant thermal comfort conditions as required by WELL v2 and LEED v4.1.
